About our Aging Labs

Finding new technologies
Red Crowns isn’t just a typical senior care home; we are very research-oriented and with that, we make use of every resource possible to provide the best care for our residents. We are continuously seeking new technologies that can produce every tool possible to improve the lives of seniors. Providing care is necessary but it can also be a challenging process, thus, we must use technology to its advantage.
A testing ground for technological solutions
Our Aging Lab will serve as the testing ground for government-approved technological solutions that aim to help the elderly when it comes to their health and daily care needs. Whether it’s to treat their ailments, monitor their health, or assist them with independent living, we aim to do these by using devices that will make the process faster, smoother, and more accurate. This will be beneficial to the elderly residents and their caregivers and medical consultants.

How can technology improve the quality of life of seniors?

Truth be told, there are many pros and cons when it comes to the advancement of technology. But one of the most notable positive things it has done is to make things a lot more convenient for us.

In healthcare, technological solutions were able to produce devices that can help us with our medical needs such as smartwatches, VR therapy, pacemakers, intuition robotics, ageless innovation, and so much more. These are very cost-efficient solutions that lessen the need to go to hospitals and make it easier to determine if there are any health complications with the patient. They can also help aging adults who are facing problems with their immobility by getting things done for them.

Additionally, technology is also a form of accessibility solution wherein tasks can be done faster and more hassle-free. For instance, personal emergency response systems serve as an automatic alarm device that alerts when a patient requires immediate medical attention. This saves time and ensures the safety of the patients.

Technology plays a very vital role in the betterment of seniors’ lives, especially those who are residing under our care. Being away from their families and having to face physical and mental illnesses are challenging enough—we must find ways to protect and improve their well-being better.

Technologies that help with senior care management

  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Medical Software

  • Automating Medical Alerts

About our senior participants

Developing technology for the health and wellness of seniors requires us to test it on actual variables. This means we’ll be testing the devices on actual aging adults who are qualified to participate. We will be conducting an assessment on whether or not the subject is right for the test and will also get the consent of his or her family and primary doctors. Our skilled nurses will be present during the testing to assist the seniors. We do our best in maintaining safe and secure testing.

What we’re looking for

  • We are in search of companies that can produce and test technological devices that are approved by the government and are capable of satisfying the needs of seniors.
  • We are looking for MedTech companies who can be in charge of the monitoring, emergency response and assistance, and medicine administration of our senior residents. They are focused on developing technology that revolves around the health and medical aspects of the body.
  • We are finding accessibility tech companies that can develop devices that would help our residents that have difficulty in mobility, efficient energy use, and daily living activities. These devices will serve as their “walking cane” to achieve their goal.
  • Many other kinds of technologies that would be beneficial for the elderly

How can technology help the elderly?

At first, you might assume that the elderly don't want anything to do with technology. However, studies have shown that a huge percentage of them are depending on it, especially when it comes to health care and entertainment. Thanks to technology, aging adults can have better and easier access to health care which enables them to monitor their medical conditions more conveniently. Furthermore, using technology for entertainment also helps lessen their loneliness and depression because they get to play games, watch videos, and connect with their loved ones.

Are senior citizens engaging in healthcare technology?

Many seniors engage in health care technology. For instance, many use their smartphones and smartwatches to monitor their heart conditions and to search for information that can enlighten them about their health issues. Furthermore, technology helps seniors be assessed by their respective medical consultants and primary doctors fast, even remotely.

How does technology affect the elderly?

Seniors who make use of technology were shown to have a better quality of life. Other than assisting them with their medical needs, the existence of technology also helps them in other aspects such as transportation, communication, and participation in social activities.

Does technology make healthcare more expensive?

Some new technologies do have a certain increase in costs on average, however, there are also a lot of technologies being used for medical purposes that save more resources than they cost. Technology indeed requires investment but it’s a worthy one once you see that it’s effectively improving your overall health and wellness.
